Having not produced a Cinsault since 1999, this newly
leased vineyard gave Michael David the opportunity to
expand its Rhone program and get back to bottling smaller
lots. Planted in 1885 by Joseph Spenker, our Cinsault
comes from Lodi’s oldest producing vineyard and one of
the world’s oldest Cinsault plantings. Now farmed by
Kevin Phillips and the vineyard team, this vineyard is head
trained and dry farmed just how it was when planted 136
years ago.
The lightest red produced at Michael David. Our 09’ Cinsault is soft on the palate with very light tannins and minimal oak influence giving way to flavors of dried cranberries, tart cherry and cola.
