This region produces some of California’s biggest and burliest Zinfandel’s that pulls no punches, all too fitting characteristics for this wine. Coming from an 86 year old dry farmed Zinfandel hilltop vineyard off Ridge Road in Amador County, which is near Sutter Creek. Farmer Joe Aparicio, who inherited this vineyard from his dad, still does all of the farming himself, including such things as pruning and shoot thinning, only bringing in a crew to harvest.
Intense concentration and character with full aromas of blackberry and cocoa with sweet briar fruit, bramble berry, raspberry, nutmeg and vanilla on the palate. The tannin is chewy but sweet, with a lingering finish.
